WPGC Selection Criteria
- Each invitation entitles the club to bring one gig for entry in any (or all) race(s). The invitation is to the club - not to a named gig. The exception to this is that all the Isles of Scilly (IoS) gigs will be invited.
- For any club to be eligible for an invitation to the WPGC, the club must be in existence for at least 12 months up until the 1st April of that year. For example, for an invitation to be issued to compete in May 2022, the club will have had to be formed by 1st April 2021.
- All CPGA member clubs will automatically get one invitation.
- Porthgain Rowing Club, will receive one invitation.
- International clubs will receive one invitation.
- Each of the first 12 gigs finishing in the Final of the Women’s Open on Sunday will secure an additional invitation to that crew’s registered club.
- Each of the first 12 gigs finishing in the Final of the Men’s Open on Sunday that has not triggered an additional invitation to the same club in the Women’s Open will now secure an additional invitation to that crew’s registered club. For example … Black Rock finishes in the top 12 Women’s and secures an invitation to that crew’s club. Black Rock also finishes in the top 12 Men’s but does not secure another invitation if rowed by a crew from the same club. If Black Rock is rowed by a crew from a different club and finishes in the top 12 Men’s, this will secure an additional invitation to that crew’s club. If Energy does finish in the top 12 Men’s, this secures an additional invitation for the club if rowed by a crew from the same club which rowed Black Rock in the Womens.
- Each of the first three gig’s crews which finish in the top three of the Vets and SuperVets (Women’s and Men’s) which do not trigger an invitation through the Open races will secure an additional invitation to that crew's registered club.
- Unfortunately, the event can only host a limited number of gigs. However, where capacity allows, the WPGC Committee may issue additional invitations to clubs who achieved the next highest results in Women’s and Men’s finals.
- Special invitations may be issued to charity crews at the discretion of the WPGC Committee. Rule 2 will also apply.
- Invitations are not transferable. If a club declines an invitation, the invitation must return to the WPGC Committee to be re-allocated. It cannot be transferred to another club.
- All requests to attend the WPGC will be considered by the Committee.
- Eligible gigs for entry must have a CPGA registration number or be built prior to 2005.
