WPGC VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The World Pilot Gig Championship Committee consists of a dedicated but small group of individuals who depend on additional support to continue delivering this fantastic event. By recruiting volunteers who are already in attendance, we hope to address some pressing issues that have arisen due to organisational changes on the islands.
To support the delivery of WPGC 2023, the CPGA is facilitating the recruitment of volunteers who will be coordinated on the islands by the WPGC Committee and Islands Partnership.
The volunteer roles will cover the following main areas:

What happens if I can’t provide a volunteer for every day?
As mentioned above, the WPGC2023 volunteer shifts will be scheduled in half days, so please note that volunteer availability isn’t required for the whole day.
If you are still struggling with availability on a particular day, please do still suggest an additional name for a second day where you have already nominated a volunteer. You can provide this information in the space at the end of the form entitled Optional Second Volunteer.
How many hours am I needed to volunteer for?
Volunteers will be in operation from around 09:30hrs - 17:30hrs each day depending on the day worked and subject to the races staying on schedule. Each shift will cover a half day unless volunteers wish to offer their time to the WPGC Committee for the full day shift instead. We estimate each half day volunteer shift to be around 5 hours, with a 'changing of guard' around 1/ 2pm each day.
What happens when I submit my Volunteer form to the CPGA? i.e. next steps
Once you have completed this initial form, we will contact the volunteers provided to gather further information, after which the WPGC Committee will begin to schedule the volunteers into their desired shifts and locations.
Can I apply to be a volunteer without being an event participant?
YES! If you would like to get involved over the weekend volunteering for any of the areas mentioned above, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us via the linked button below.
